Job Summary

The Pharmacist is responsible for filling medication orders monitoring patient drug therapies and providing drug information to healthcare providers. This position oversees the routine operations of the pharmacy department and manages all clinical aspects of patient drug the absence of the Pharmacy Director the Pharmacist may be required to assume leadership responsibilities and perform the essential duties of the Functions & Responsibilities:Medication Preparation & DispensingPrepare fill label and dispense drugs parenteral medications IV solutions and drug containers accurately and all medications issued to patient care areas meet legal and quality Pharmacy ServicesMonitor patient drug therapies for safety appropriateness and interpret and communicate age-specific criteria in medication drug information and education to physicians nurses patients and other healthcare in clinical duties as required by Medical Staff departmental policies and drug OperationsMaintain adequate drug supply and manage day-to-day records of Pharmacy Department transactions as required by law and pharmacy technicians and other technical in formulary management and Automated Dispensing Machine (ADM) changes at the direction of the Pharmacy ResponseParticipate in Rapid Response Teams and Code Blue situations as Compliance & Professional DevelopmentComplete annual pharmacy competency evaluation using the Pharmacy Competency in approved continuing education programs to maintain and enhance professional and comply with the organization s Compliance Program and Code of any observed or suspected unethical illegal or questionable conduct to the Compliance effective interpersonal relationships with all healthcare team members and :Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of in Pharmacy required; PharmD :Current active license to practice pharmacy in the State of New Mexico (verified by the New Mexico Board of Pharmacy).Experience:1 2 years of hospital pharmacy experience graduates with strong clinical rotations may be Skills & Abilities:Strong clinical knowledge of pharmacology therapeutics and age-specific medication verbal and written communication to work independently and make sound clinical attention to detail and accuracy in medication preparation and and supervisory in pharmacy information systems and automated dispensing to patient safety quality improvement and regulatory Requirements:Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g. preparing IV admixtures typing).Ability to lift and carry light loads up to 40 kneeling walking and standing for extended periods (4 8 hours).Must be physically able to operate pharmacy equipment.
