Certified Welding Inspector (AWS-CWI)

We are seeking an experienced AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to perform structural steel inspection services on commercial industrial and public works construction projects. The successful candidate will conduct shop and field inspections of structural steel welding bolting and nondestructive testing activities while ensuring compliance with applicable codes specifications and project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform shop and field inspections of structural steel welding and bolting activities.
• Verify compliance with approved plans specifications AWS standards and applicable building codes.
• Review welding procedures welder qualifications and inspection requirements.
• Perform and document welding inspections in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Coordinate and review nondestructive testing (NDT) activities and results.
• Read and interpret structural drawings shop drawings specifications and code requirements.
• Prepare accurate daily reports inspection documentation and project records.
• Maintain complete and organized project files including reports field notes correspondence RFIs and supporting documentation.
• Communicate inspection findings and project updates to project managers contractors engineers and client representatives.
• Identify and document non-conforming work and verify corrective actions when required.
• Travel to project sites as needed to support inspection activities throughout the region.
• Perform inspections in accordance with company quality standards and safety procedures.

Qualifications :

Required Qualifications

• Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction quality assurance welding inspection special inspections or related construction services.
• Thorough knowledge of structural steel welding bolting and applicable AWS codes and standards.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings shop drawings specifications and building code requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate project documentation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Positive attitude strong work ethic and organizational skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel for project assignments.
• Valid drivers license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to successfully complete background screening and drug testing requirements if applicable.

Preferred Qualifications (optional)

• ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector Certification.
• NDT certifications (MT PT RT VT or other Level II/III certifications).
• ICC Structural Steel and Bolting Special Inspector certification.
• ICC Structural Steel Welding Special Inspector certification.
• Experience performing inspections on large commercial industrial infrastructure or public works projects.

Additional Information :

Salary range: $50-60/hour depending on qualifications
