The Surgical Tech handles the instruments supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care a during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.
Duties as follows:
- Checks Supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure such as scrubs gowns and gloves.
- Sets up sterile table with instruments supplies equipment and medications/solutions needed for surgery.
- Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation ad n before incision is closed.
Licensure/Certification/ Registration:
- BLS Certification
- Surgical Technologist certification required
Education:
- Graduate of an approved Surgical Technologist program
Other Qualifications:
- Well organized and possess high degree of manual dexterity
- 3 years experience in a hospital-based surgical service preferred
- Excellent interpersonal organizational customer service and communication skills required
- OR equivalent combination of the above
