Job Summary

Are you an experienced Speech & Language Pathologist who is looking to make a difference in helping the lives of local children with developmental disabilities Come work for LSS in the Birth to Three program in Waukesha County!

Duties Include completing eligibility evaluations on children with developmental concerns and providing early intervention services to families with children who qualify for the program. As well as providing early intervention services designed to enhance child development focusing on strategies that promote parent-child interaction and function.

This position is mainly in the community and remote. Two times a month the SLP will need to attend meetings in person.

This is a 32 hour per week benefit eligible position.

Essential Duties and responsibilities:

  • Completes eligibility evaluations and assessments as assigned.
  • Works as a team member demonstrating expertise as a Speech & Language Pathologist to assist families in fostering the development and learning of their child.
  • Focuses on family driven priorities as the foundation for development of outcomes and the implementation of services.
  • Provides ideas strategies and techniques to families and team members to enhance the childs development within the context of their everyday lives. All ideas strategies and techniques focus on improving developmental skills that improve the childs ability to function within daily routines.
  • Provides services in such a way that takes into account that a childs greatest resource is the family.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Masters degree in Communicative Disorders Speech Pathology or related degree is required.
  • Two years previous experience working as a pediatric speech and language pathologist to include relevant experience working with families and children with disabilities in natural environments.
  • Ability to complete continuing education as required by this program professional organizations and /or regulatory agencies.
  • Knowledge of federal state and local rules and regulations governing Birth to Three Programs.
  • Knowledge of the philosophy and delivery of early intervention services.
  • Considerable knowledge of modern principles and practices used in speech and language pathology for children and their families.
  • Working knowledge of techniques that promote positive behavior and success in young children.
  • Working knowledge of techniques and strategies effective for adult learning (parents and care providers).
  • The ability to establish effective working relationships with all stakeholders to include the ability to work with diverse populations.

CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS:

  • The incumbent of this position must have a valid Drivers License and car Motor vehicle check (MVR) with a satisfactory driving record required.
  • Licensure in Speech/Language Pathology from the State of Wisconsin (or applicable state) is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to communicate both in verbal and written format effectively and efficiently in job

COMPUTER SKILLS/TECHNOLOGY:

Working knowledge of computers to allow employee to access computer systems and applications to complete timecards read and respond to email and complete required on-line training.

TRAVEL:

Daily travel is required for this position. Some overnight travel may be required.
