Job Summary
Position Purpose:
The Certified Pharmacy Technician Senior (Sterile Compounding) is an elevated collaborative role with pharmacy addition to routine technician functions Project Days are allotted to ensure development of our technician teams in the sterile compounding space. The functions assigned to the Sterile Compounding role include implementation and training for: Sterile Compounding USP 797 and USP compliance/education/annual competencies.
What You Will Do:
- Establish a working identity with our Pharmacy Team and continue to build upon our culture
- Ensures an environment of patient safety promotes evidence-based practice and quality initiatives and exhibits professionalism
- Maintain USP 797/800 performance standards for pharmacy staff
- Following in depth role specific training. Team responsibilities include:
- Projects as assigned by managers assisting with purchasing developing staffing patterns and assignments for other technicians prioritizing work responsibilities and precepting/training newly hired technicians.
- Preparation of sterile products (including hazardous medication) in compliance with regulatory standards
- Assists in the dispensing of orders/prescriptions through our pharmacy inventory system
- Assists in inventory control by processing our daily Pharmacy Department order; assuring proper stock rotation storage and appropriate expiration dating. Escalates medication and non-medication orders to the Purchasing Team
- Assists the department with proper billing of patients and other units
- Preparation of non-sterile products (including hazardous) using aseptic technique in compliance with regulatory standards
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school graduation or equivalent
- Approved Pharmacy Technician Certification
- Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program or previous relevant pharmacy technician experience is required. Greater than 3 years experience is preferred with a background in USP 797/800 and Sterile Compounding
