Schedule: Mid Shift 5x8-Hour Shifts
Shift Timing: 03:00 PM 11:00 PM
Contract Duration: 8 Weeks (Temp-to-Hire)
A leading acute care hospital in Flushing NY is seeking an experienced Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST) for an 8-week travel assignment supporting Surgical Services and Central Sterile Processing operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with surgical instrumentation sterilization procedures and central sterile processing workflows in a fast-paced hospital environment. This role requires excellent technical ability attention to detail and the capability to support high-volume surgical operations efficiently.
- Prepare sterilize and maintain surgical instruments and equipment
- Operate autoclaves and gas sterilization systems following safety protocols
- Support operating room and central sterile processing workflows
- Perform decontamination assembly inspection and packaging of surgical instruments
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention and sterilization standards
- Assist surgical teams with instrument readiness and supply management
- Maintain inventory control and organize surgical equipment and supplies
- Safely handle heavy equipment carts and instrument trays
- Maintain accurate sterilization and processing documentation
- Minimum 1 year of Central Processing experience required
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Strong knowledge of surgical instruments autoclaves and gas sterilizers required
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Physical ability to lift pull and push heavy equipment as needed
- CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) Certification required
- Central Service Technician Certification required
- Certified Surgical Technologist course completion preferred
- On-the-job Surgical Tech training experience accepted
- Minimum 3 years of Level 1 Trauma Center experience preferred
- Prior experience in high-volume acute care hospital settings preferred
