Job Summary
We are hiring a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for one of our clients in Greenville SC.
Job Description:
The COTA assists in implementing the School District of Greenville Countys occupational therapy program as a related service for students with disabilities. Under the direction of the Supervising Occupational Therapist Lead Occupational Therapist and Director of Speech Therapy the COTA delivers direct and consultative therapy services across school locations in alignment with each students Individualized Education Program (IEP) and in accordance with the laws rules and regulations of the District.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct & Consultative
- Therapy
- Provide direct and consultative occupational therapy services to students across school locations as prescribed in each students IEP and under the direction of the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- IEP Collaboration
- Collaborate with the Supervising Occupational Therapist and IEP team members to assist students in making measurable progress toward their IEP goals.
- Clinical Supervision
- Serve as Clinical Supervisor to assigned OTA college students providing mentorship and professional oversight in accordance with AOTA standards.
- Documentation & Compliance
- Complete all required clinical documentation in compliance with AOTA guidelines South Carolina state licensure requirements and Medicaid billing regulations.
- Additional Duties
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the Supervising Occupational Therapist Lead Occupational Therapist and/or Director of Speech Therapy.
Education:
- Associates degree or higher from an accredited occupational therapy program approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA)..
Licensure:
- Valid South Carolina Occupational Therapy License (current and in good standing).
- Current certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in pediatric occupational therapy.
Preferred:
- Experience in a K-12 public school or special education environment.
- Familiarity with Medicaid documentation and billing in an educational setting.
- Experience supervising OTA students or paraprofessional therapy staff.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District administration may find appropriate and acceptable.
skills & competencies:
- Strong knowledge of pediatric occupational therapy principles techniques and evidence-based practices.
- Ability to interpret and implement IEP goals and occupational therapy treatment plans.
- Excellent written and verbal communication for documentation team collaboration and family engagement.
- Proficiency in required therapy documentation systems and electronic health/education records.
- Ability to work independently across multiple school sites with minimal supervision.
- Commitment to student confidentiality and FERPA compliance.
- Professional conduct with diverse student populations staff and families.
Work Environment:
- Services coordinated on an as-needed basis across 100 District school locations.
- Must travel between school sites as directed by the District.
- Must display a valid government-issued photo ID at all times on school grounds.
- Must adhere to all District regulations: no-smoking no-weapons drug-free policies.
Licensing & Legal:
- Must possess and maintain all required SC licenses and certifications for the full engagement duration.
- Must comply with IDEA FERPA HIPAA and Medicaid regulations.
- Must comply with the SC Illegal Immigration Reform Act (Title 8 Chapter 14 SC Code of Laws).
- Contractor is solely responsible for all Federal and State taxes and payroll obligations for their personnel
