Job Summary

R. J. Corman Railroad Company is seeking a CDL-B / Operator in Lexington KY.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate specialized equipment. (i.e. Backhoe Crew Truck Excavator Prentice Truck etc.)in support of inspection installation and maintenance of railroad track.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on heavy or specialized equipment.
  • Maintains proper equipment appearance and cleanliness.
  • May perform labor duties as needed.
  • Communicates with supervisor throughout the job process.
  • Ensures working conditions are safe and that proper PPE is being used as job duties require.
  • Follow DOT regulations; ensuring proper permits and driving regulations are followed.

Education and Experience:

  • Demonstrated operation experience and equipment knowledge.
  • CDL-B License and demonstrated performance operating CDL-B required vehicles.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot simple mechanical failures.
  • Previous experience in railroad construction or maintenance preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to perform physical strenuous work
  • Able to frequently bend stoop kneel and crouch
  • Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50lbs
  • Requires occasional use of 30lb claw bar to remove spikes requiring application of 50lbs of force
  • Requires occasional use of 10lb sledge hammer to drive spikes requiring application of 75lbs of force
  • Able to walk climb and maintain balance on equipment stairs ladders uneven terrain rails and ballast in a safe manner
  • Able to navigate into confined spaces if necessary
  • Work is performed outside in varying types of environmental conditions.

Job Dimensions:Interfaces with all levels of employees and management. Performs duties under general supervision with limited discretion. Does not directly supervise employees.
