R. J. Corman is currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Columbus OH.

Responsibilities:

• Operate and oversee Key Equipment (i.e. Sideboom Track loader Excavator Vac Truck Grapple Truck rubber tire loader etc.) during derailment recovery ensuring safe and efficient execution of tasks.
• May perform labor duties as needed.
• Conduct pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Perform advanced equipment maneuvers including lifting rerailing and stabilizing derailed railcars or heavy components.
• Perform preventative maintenance on heavy or specialized equipment.
• Maintain proper equipment appearance and cleanliness.
• Basic mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot simple mechanical failures.
• Practice safe working habits.
• Provide technical training and mentorship to operators I-III supporting skill development and certification readiness.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and site-specific procedures including wearing proper PPE and participating in safety briefings.
• Enforce safety protocols and conduct on-site safety checks to protect personnel and equipment during high risks operations.
• Follow DOT regulations; ensuring proper permits and driving regulations are followed.

Pay Range

• Hourly pay rate from $18.00 - $37.00

Specialized or Technical Knowledge or Education and Experience:

• CDL-A Required with no restrictions.
• Previous experience and familiarity in operation of equipment.
• Proficient with at least one piece of Key Equipment.
• Basic mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot simple mechanical failures is needed.

Physical Requirements:

• Able to perform physical strenuous work.
• Able to frequently bend stoop kneel and crouch.
• Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Requires occasional use of 30 lb claw bar to remove spikes requiring application of 50 lbs of force.
• Requires occasional use of 10 lb sledgehammer to drive spikes requiring application of 75 lbs of force.
• Able to walk climb and maintain balance on equipment stairs ladders uneven terrain rails and ballast in a safe manner.
• Able to navigate into confined spaces if necessary.

Environmental Conditions:

• Performs duties in multiple environments including outside construction project settings in and around moving vehicles and equipment.
• Exposure to weather elements; must wear appropriate PPErequired for project site.
