Job Summary
Role Summary
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Cattleman to join our animal health organization. This role is responsible for the daily care health monitoring and handling of livestock (with a focus on cattle) used in vaccine production and development efficacy studies and biologics production ensuring animal welfare and strict compliance with USDA GLP/GCP and biosecurity standards.
Shift: 8:00AM - 5:00PM (Monday - Friday)
Key Responsibilities
Feed water and provide daily husbandry for livestock housed in research or production facilities
Administer vaccines challenge inoculations and treatments according to study protocols study director supervision
Monitor animal health and clinical signs before and after vaccination or challenge recording observations accurately
Collect biological samples (blood serum tissue swabs) for titer testing serology and efficacy analysis
Maintain accurate audit-ready records in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and USDA regulatory requirements
Follow strict biosecurity quarantine and containment protocols to prevent cross-contamination between study groups
Assist study directors with study setup randomization and animal identification (ear tags RFID)
Clean and sanitize equipment between studies
Restrain and handle animals safely during vaccination sample collection and clinical exams
Report adverse reactions or health concerns immediately to the study director
Maintain livestock facilities including working pens and traps
Maintain inventory and proper storage (e.g. cold chain) of vaccines biologics and medical supplies
Support necropsy or end-of-study procedures as required by the protocol
Perform other duties as assigned to support department and program objectives.

ATTENDANCE/PUNCTUALITY (non-exempts & hourly) Meeting expectations requires that the employee regularly reports for work on time prepared to start his/her assigned duties at the appointed -for-duty time is defined as readiness to perform the first assigned task at the scheduled start of ashiftand employee does not leave assigned post early works through the end of work hours. Employee leaves and returns from scheduled breaks and lunch at designated times.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelors degree in animal science veterinary technology or related field preferred
Previous experience in livestock production veterinary biologics or animal research/clinical trials preferred
Familiarity with vaccine handling cold chain storage and injection techniques (IM SQ ID)
Ability to lift 5075 lbs. and perform physical labor outdoors or in barn/lab settings
Comfortable working with large animals including those that may be unpredictable or difficult to handle
Strong attention to detail and precise compliant record-keeping skills
Good communication skills and ability to follow written study protocols exactly
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of GLP GCP USDA / APHIS regulations and animal welfare standards
2 to 3 years of ranch hand / livestock handling experience
Work Environment
Combination of outdoor farm/barn settings and controlled research or production facilities
Exposure to weather animal waste biologics and sharps;
May involve early mornings weekends holidays and on-call shifts tied to study or production schedules
Physical role requiring lifting bending kneeling and standing for long periods
Requires strict adherence to biosecurity and containment procedures
