Casual Specimen Processing Technician Every Other Weekend Midnight Shift

ChristianaCare is currently recruiting for a Casual Specimen Processing Technician to join our General Laboratory team on the Newark campus.

In this role youll perform essential pre- and post-analytical functions that help ensure patient specimens are accurately processed and delivered for timely laboratory testing.

Schedule:

Part-time Midnight shift

• Every other weekend
• 10:30pm - 7:00am
• 2-3 holidays per year

As a Specimen Processing Technician you will:

• Receive process sort and deliver laboratory specimens
• Print and accurately affix patient identification labels to incoming specimens
• Prioritize incoming work and ensure STAT specimens are promptly routed to the appropriate laboratory section
• Communicate specimen priorities to testing personnel to support established turnaround times
• Respond to inquiries from physicians nurses and laboratory personnel
• Support the accurate and efficient flow of specimens throughout the laboratory

Education/Experience requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two years of applicable clinical experience working with specimens in a laboratory environment or equivalent college coursework in a healthcare or science-related field preferred
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Effective communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
