Job Summary
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Works 12-16 hours per week completing responsibilities as listed below.
- Meets with students in a one-to-one small-group walk-in or classroom tutoring format to provide learning assistance and help students improve or maintain their academic excellence.
- Integrates effective study and learning strategies to maximize students potential for academic progress.
- Maintains accurate records of tutoring sessions and attendees.
- Attends mandatory tutor orientation training sessions and scheduled meetings as required by the Assistant Director of Residential Tutoring Services.
- Completes Canvas and other training courses assignments and quizzes.
- Assists with additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Residential Tutoring Services.
- Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies representing the University in an exemplary manner.
- Works effectively as a team member embracing and fostering LUs Christian model and Mission Training Champions for Christ.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
- Current residential LU student
- A or B in requested courses
- Cumulative LU GPA of at least 3.0
- Letter of recommendation from the instructor of the courses
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with individuals from varying educational cultural and social backgrounds
- Enthusiasm for ministering to and helping students improve their knowledge of course content and effective study habits
- Excellent level of responsibility reliability punctuality and organization
- Appropriate and professional behavior
- Previous tutoring experience preferred
- Eligible for Federal Work Study preferred
ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE JOB
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear well articulated information.
Ability to understand speak and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
- Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Computer skills.
- Intuitively able to reason analyze information and events and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
- May be required to sit to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
- Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
- Regularly required to stand walk and climb stairs to move about the campus.
- Handle materials reach overhead kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
- Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled setting. It is well lighted and the noise level is moderate. Working environment may include facilitation of events outdoors occasionally.

Student employees are paid at least the current Virginia minimum wage per hour. Pay may vary by position and department based on job responsibilities required skills available funding and market conditions.
