Job Summary

The University of Iowa Pomerantz Career Center is seeking a passionate Career Coach (50% appointment) dedicated to empowering undergraduate students as they explore define and pursue their career paths. If youre energized by student development collaboration and making a meaningful impact wed love to have you on our team!

As a Career Coach you will support undergraduate students in discovering and achieving their career goals through individualized coaching dynamic workshops and hands-on guidance in the job internship and graduate school search process. Youll collaborate with faculty and campus partners contribute to innovative programming and play a key role in increasing student engagement with career services.

They will also have the opportunity to:

  • Advise orient andassiststudents faculty and staff in the use of occupational and job search resources.

  • Collaboratewithassigned departments/collegesand fellow career coachesto assessandaddresscareer development needs of undergraduate students.

  • Maintainrelationships within assigned campus departments and serve as a liaison to internal and external entities including university faculty academicadvisorsand employer partners to support student career development.

About the Department: The Pomerantz Career Center mission is to assist the University of Iowa with enrollment management by empowering undergraduate students to become leaders maximize their potential and achieve professional success. We accomplish this through professional advising innovative and experiential education and the development of extraordinary relationships with our stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • AMasters degree inStudentAffairs Counseling Higher Education or related field or a bachelors degree with equivalent combination of training and experience providing a comparable level ofexpertise.

  • Reasonable experience (1-3 years) of advising coaching teaching training counseling career services or other in a related academic or helping profession.

Competencies Required:

  • Demonstrates a working proficiency level in the following competencies:

    • Knowledge and ability toprovidecareer advice coaching andassistancewith career decision-making and internship/job search preparationsearchand strategy.

    • Effective communicationandabilityto build andmaintainrelationships with individuals and groups.

    • Ability to planmanageandfacilitateeducational/instructional workshopsprogramsor related initiatives.

    • Ability to work collaboratively to organize execute and evaluate events involving multiple stakeholders.

    • Ability to think creatively and develop/pilot new methods of meeting the changing career needs/expectations ofundergraduatestudent population.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates a working proficiency level in the following competencies:

    • Experience working 1:1 and/or in groups withundergraduatecollegestudents

    • Familiarity/experience with career developmentconcepts includingNACE Career Readiness Competencies

    • Experience with career assessment tools.

    • Experiencecollaboratingwith staff and facultyto integratecareer developmentwithinthecollegestudentexperience.

Work Modality: This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy work arrangements will be reviewed annually and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $24000- $33000at 50% time with the top of the range reserved for exceptionally qualified applicants. This position includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package.
