Career assistants will staff the front desk at the Career Center; greeting and assisting students alumni employers faculty and staff.

Department: Becker Career Center

Location: Becker Hall

Supervisor: Kelly McFarlane

Work available: Monday- Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30pm & special events

Rate of Pay: $9.70/hr

Number of Positions available: 5

Essential Responsibilities & Duties:

All Career Assistants are expected to:

  • Greet and assist students alumni employers faculty and staff at the front desk

  • Assist phone callers by answering questions disseminating information and transferring calls

  • Check in students and alumni notify Advisor and monitor flow of appointments

  • Educate students on Handshake Platform: Setting up profile scheduling appointments job/internship search basics events calendar.

  • Gain knowledge of and assist students and alumni utilizing online and print resources in the Career Library

  • Participate in and promote Career and Employer Relations programs resources services and events

  • Utilize office tools including Handshake Google Calendar printers copier phones and fax machine. Replenish paper and supplies from closet as needed.

  • Keep front desk area cleaned and organized and assist in opening/closing procedures.

  • Complete other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Telephone and interpersonal skills with a strong emphasis on customer service

  • Ability to maintain confidential information

  • Data entry skills

  • Knowledge of Google Calendar

  • Reliability flexibility ability to take initiative and work independently

  • Detail oriented with a willingness to learn and a sense of humor
