Career Advisor I, Adult & Youth Programs

Location: Corpus Christi TX
Pay Rate: $20.67 per hour
Assignment Duration: Approximately 6 to 8 weeks

Our client is seeking motivated Career Advisors to support workforce development programs serving adult and youth participants in the Corpus Christi area.

The Career Advisor plays an important role in helping individuals identify career goals overcome employment barriers develop job-search skills access training opportunities and successfully transition into employment.

We are recruiting Career Advisors to support both Adult and Youth case management programs.

Youth Career Advisor: This position may require local travel to community partner locations for outreach activities.

• Conduct comprehensive career assessments to identify participants occupational interests skills employment history training needs abilities and potential barriers to employment.

• Provide individualized career counseling coaching and ongoing case management.

• Help participants establish realistic short-term and long-term employment and career goals.

• Guide job seekers through career exploration and development using assessments interviewing techniques resume development and other career-planning resources.

• Determine participant eligibility for applicable workforce programs and services.

• Connect eligible participants with local state and federally funded workforce resources and programs.

• Provide relevant labor market information including employment opportunities industry qualifications career pathways and expected compensation.

• Educate participants on effective job-search techniques hiring trends resume development and interviewing strategies.

• Conduct mock interviews and provide individualized employment-readiness coaching.

• Provide information regarding occupational training educational opportunities approved training providers financial assistance and available scholarships.

• Refer participants to occupational skills training work-based learning apprenticeships and professional development opportunities.

• Prepare and submit applicable training and supportive service requests in a timely manner.

• Continually assess participant needs and connect individuals with appropriate internal or community resources to address barriers that may impact employment or educational success.

• Maintain regular contact with assigned participants and monitor progress toward educational training and employment goals.

• Develop productive working relationships with internal teams community organizations employers and other workforce partners.

• Collaborate with employer-focused teams to identify appropriate employment opportunities for program participants.

• Proactively identify and refer qualified participants to employment opportunities aligned with their skills and training.

• Maintain accurate participant records case notes service activity and required information within designated case management systems.

• Ensure case files and documentation meet applicable program and quality standards.

• Participate in outreach and community-based activities as required.

• Perform additional related duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Associate degree or undergraduate degree preferred.

• Previous workforce development career advising case management employment services social services or related experience strongly preferred.

• Knowledge of workforce development and career counseling practices preferred.

• Strong case management analytical and critical-thinking skills.

• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with varying needs.

• Ability to professionally manage challenging or stressful customer situations.

• Strong computer skills including experience with word processing spreadsheets and technology-based case management tools.

• Ability to develop productive working relationships with coworkers management community partners and the public.

• Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.

• Valid drivers license proof of insurance and a good driving record required.

Candidates supporting the Youth program should be comfortable with occasional local travel throughout the Corpus Christi area to assist with outreach and activities at community partner locations.

This position is primarily performed in an office environment and may require periods of sitting standing bending and walking. Candidates must be able to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.

Occasional driving local travel and flexible work hours may be required depending on program needs.
