Work Shift: Full-Time: 40 hrs. per week; Days Nights. Flexible Shift On-calls and weekends may be required.

Work Location: University of Miami Hospital & Clinics - UMHC-SCCC Cardiology Lab

scheduling and patient flow with Chief Tech for interdepartmental procedures.
2. Independently performs per protocol all Cardiac Ultrasounds complete with contrast agitated saline including Stress echoes Metabolic Stress echoes.
3. Assist with the education and training of new Cardiac Ultrasound techs fellows physicians.
4. Assist Cardiologists in developing new protocols and Cardiac Ultrasound imaging techniques that are unique to facility.
5. Participate in research initiatives and imaging per research protocols.
6. Monitor charging of Cardiac Ultrasound procedures and supplies daily to ensure correctness.
7. Obtains and examines the order for a Cardiac Ultrasound exam; to be aware of information such as requests clinical information patients condition and any other special notes or comments.
8. Ensures that orders are appropriate to the type of exam recommended by physician. Notifies supervisor of any discrepancies and/or contacts physicians office for correct orders if necessary.
9. Verify the patients ID by checking their name and date of birth on electronic medical record and patients wristband.
10. Always obtain necessary consents and education.
11. Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of Cardiac Ultrasound scanners and related equipment in accordance with IAC standards of practice
12. Ability to integrate diagnostic laboratory results patient history and medical records and adapt exam as necessary. Adheres to Cardiac Ultrasound protocols to maintain high quality standards.
13. Consistently demonstrates complete competence in performing Cardiac Ultrasound scans as ordered.
14. As required during a procedure assists positioning patients in required anatomical position for display of body for Cardiac Ultrasound scans using immobilization and protective equipment as necessary.
15. Maintain proper aseptic technique utilizing universal precaution guidelines (hand washing gloves gown mask eye protection and equipment disinfection).
16. Independently complete procedures per protocol starting IVs and injecting contrast when applicable.
17. Assist Cardiologist with interventional Cardiac Ultrasound procedures.
UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI
Core Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist Level II
18. Evaluate Cardiology Ultrasound scans for technical quality appropriate measurements and labels. transmit to PACS prepare preliminary reports and place Cardiac study for reading
19. Charge procedures and supplies in UChart/Radiant.
20. Maintain accurate patient records by accurate placement in electronic record
21. Provide assistance with orientation and training to new Cardiac Ultrasound technologists.
22. Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of treatment; answering questions.
23. Applies physical age-specific and/or developmental care needs of patients according to their documented physical/development requirement by competency validation checklist:
a. Adolescents
b. Adults
c. Geriatric
d. Challenged/Disabled
24. Performs basic nursing functions in the patients care i.e. assists with bedpans emesis basins etc. Assumes care for physical and psychological needs of the patient during scanning procedures; initiates life support measures for patients if necessary; assists in Code Blue procedure during medical emergencies. Performs CPR as needed.
25. Keeps work area in a clean and sanitary condition and stocks exam/dressing rooms with required supplies.
26. Provides on call coverage.
27. Reports unusual findings in a timely manner to appropriate Cardiologist /Supervisory personnel.
28. Abide by to hospital/department HR policies.
29. Adheres to any regulatory body guidelines governing modality including but not limited to: Joint Commission AHCA ACR FL DOH and FDA/MQSA.
30. Assist with the day-to-day operations within the department.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
Certification and Licensing:
ARDMS registered. ARDMS
CCI- RCS
CPR and BLS certification required.
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience (preferred)
Knowledge Skills and Attitudes:
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
