Provides evaluation and programming of cardiovascular implantable electronic devices under the supervision of a physician. Troubleshoots complex device programming issues under the supervision of a physician. Provides timely feedback of cardiac device diagnostic information to physicians nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Interrogates devices (i.e. pacemakers and automated internal cardioverter defibrillators) and interprets devices for basic threshold and intracardiac measurements and makes necessary program changes under the direction of the electrophysiologist. Examines wounds post-device implant on initial visit of all post-op patients to ensure the incision is healing appropriately and communicates issues or problems with the electrophysiologist. Educates patients and families regarding device function clinic follow-up scheduling and device home monitoring. Ensures correct billing and coding of device checks. Manages remote device follow up and schedules follow up appointments with patients as appropriate based on the data interpretation. Manages the device database by entering interrogation data. Schedules follow up appointments with patients as appropriate based on the data interpretation. Completes the charge capture process in the electronic medical record for all patients seen in the device clinic and/or captured by remote device follow-ups. Assists in the maintenance of the daily schedule of all device clinics to ensure adequate clinical workflow.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Current Wisconsin RN Licensure
Minimum of 1 year: General Cardiac Experience Required
Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) OR Associates Degree in Nursing with an agreement to obtain the BSN within five years.
American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS)
Experience with cardiac rhythm interpretation and EKG
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to move freely (standing stooping walking bending pushing and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of Fifty (50) pounds without assistance
Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to perform patient care procedures
