Job Summary
One of our customers is looking for a Buyer!
SCOPE OF OPERATION:
Responsible for reviewing engineering drawings to determine the appropriate vendors to secure the best cost and quality available. Effective use of existing purchasing contracts is essential.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Purchase raw materials fabricated parts tools equipment and supplies used to build machinery utilizing engineering drawings.
- Work with Engineering regarding drawings and BOMs.
- Communicate with vendors to obtain pricing availability and delivery schedules.
- Evaluate suppliers to ensure on-time delivery correct quantities and quality standards.
- Determine procurement methods including direct purchase or bidding.
- Prepare purchase orders and bid requests.
- Assist with product development including forecasting material availability and cost analysis.
- Maintain computerized purchasing records including costs inventory delivery and supplier performance.
- Address defective or unacceptable goods with vendors and quality personnel to resolve issues.
- Expedite deliveries and purchase orders as needed.
- Perform purchase order entry material planning supplier development and invoice processing.
- Support implementation of purchasing policies and cost reduction initiatives.
- Establish new vendors for cost savings and performance improvements.
- Coordinate with Accounting regarding invoice discrepancies supplier paperwork and payment requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by senior management.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma required.
- 8-10 years of purchasing experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend engineering drawings.
- Strong organizational and priority management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills including Outlook Teams Word Excel PowerPoint and Internet applications.
