Job Summary
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Purchasing & Procurement Responsibilities
- Procure raw materials components consumables and services required to support fiber laser manufacturing operations.
- Manage purchase orders from requisition through receipt and invoice reconciliation.
- Monitor supplier performance related to delivery quality responsiveness and cost.
- Coordinate with suppliers to resolve shortages late deliveries quality issues and expedite critical materials as needed.
- Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to support new product introductions and engineering changes.
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies quality standards and procurement procedures.
- Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier data within ERP/MRP systems.
- Support contract and service procurement for operational and facility-related needs.
Production Control Responsibilities
- Release schedule and monitor production work orders in accordance with manufacturing priorities and customer demand.
- Support inventory transactions cycle counting activities and inventory accuracy initiatives.
- Monitor WIP (Work in Process) inventory and assist in resolving production bottlenecks.
- Assist with production reporting capacity planning and schedule adherence metrics.
- Maintain accurate production and inventory records within ERP/MRP systems.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory control material flow and production efficiency.
Inventory Management Responsibilities
- Maintain inventory accuracy for raw materials WIP and finished goods.
- Analyze inventory trends and support inventory optimization efforts.
- Participate in physical inventories and cycle count programs.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Coordinate material movement and replenishment activities to support manufacturing operations.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Associate degree in Supply Chain Business Operations or related field; or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
- Minimum 35 years of experience in purchasing production control inventory management or manufacturing operations.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment required; fiber optics laser electronics or high-tech manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems for purchasing and production planning activities.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Strong understanding of supply chain purchasing inventory control and production scheduling principles.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with internal teams and suppliers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel.
- Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and accuracy.
- Ability to interpret production schedules inventory data and procurement requirements.
Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based within a manufacturing environment.
- Regular interaction with production floor personnel and suppliers.
- May require occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds.
