About the Role:

We are seeking a driven and experienced Business Development Manager Freight Brokerage to lead the growth and performance of our freight brokerage sales team. This is an exciting opportunity for a sales leader who thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment and is passionate about developing talent building customer relationships and driving revenue growth.

In this role you will be responsible for recruiting training coaching and managing Freight Brokerage Account Executives while helping shape the strategic direction of the brokerage division. You will work closely with sales and operations teams to identify new business opportunities strengthen customer partnerships improve sales effectiveness and expand market presence. The ideal candidate combines strong leadership capabilities with hands-on freight brokerage expertise and a proven track record of developing high-performing sales teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit train mentor and manage Freight Brokerage Account Executives.
  • Coach team members to achieve performance goals and behavioral expectations.
  • Develop coordinate and deliver sales and industry training programs.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and implement improvements to maximize team performance.
  • Create and maintain training materials manuals and sales tools.
  • Monitor sales activity pipeline performance and overall team productivity.
  • Provide ongoing feedback performance reporting and development plans for team members.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing customers.
  • Identify new business opportunities and support strategic growth initiatives.
  • Develop a deep understanding of market trends customer needs and competitive positioning.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Account Management teams to enhance customer solutions and service offerings.
  • Participate in customer meetings presentations and business reviews.
  • Analyze market conditions and identify differentiators that strengthen the companys value proposition.
  • Track account activity sales performance and pipeline metrics.
  • Prepare accurate sales forecasts reports and business updates.
  • Assist in closing strategic opportunities and supporting key customer relationships.
  • Drive the achievement of team sales targets and performance objectives.
  • Support continuous process improvement initiatives across the sales organization.
  • Maintain knowledge of transportation logistics and freight brokerage industry trends.
  • Perform additional responsibilities and contribute to team success as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of sales experience within the freight brokerage industry.
  • Certified Transportation Broker (CTB) designation preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading coaching or mentoring sales professionals.
  • Strong understanding of freight brokerage operations and transportation markets.
  • Proven ability to develop business relationships and drive revenue growth.
  • Excellent communication presentation negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems sales reporting tools and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to travel occasionally as business needs require.
