The Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers (League) was founded in 1972 as one of the countrys first state Primary Care Associations (PCAs). Established under the same federal authorizing legislation as the health center program (Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act) PCAs are organized around a set of core functions and competencies that provide a framework for support and assistance to health centers and the communities they serve.

The League is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization registered as a public charity with the Commonwealths Secretary of State. It maintains a professional staff at its headquarters in Boston and its training center in Worcester.

Position Summary

The Business Development Associate provides support to the CommonWealth Purchasing Group (CPG) Member Resource Consultants focused on expanding the CPG program through new member outreach and acquisition. This position works closely with the MRCs and Marketing Manager to generate leads and future business opportunities.

Essential Functions:
  • Work closely with new customers to set meetings for MRCs and other members of the CPG Team.
  • Support MRCs with daily sales activity including but not limited to:
    • General sales follow-up
    • Salesforce data collection and input
  • Meet sales objectives in coordination with the CPG strategic business plan.
  • Provide monthly updates of success compared to sales objectives.
  • Develop relationships with new customers via meetings telephone calls and emails.
  • Work with the Senior VP VP Director of Operations and MRCs to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction amongst CPGs members.
  • Track and process health center enrollment and help new members transition into initial contracts
  • Work closely with the Marketing Manager and CPG vendors to develop a marketing plan and create high quality co-branded marketing materials.
  • Generate business leads and support CPG team of Member Resource Consultants (MRCs) with up-to-date and aligned marketing materials.
  • Work closely with the Senior VP VP Director of Operations and MRCs to identify market and target new customers.
  • Monitor the CPG Live-Chat line and the main company phone line. Provide initial response to all inquiries and share with the appropriate member of the CPG for complete follow-up.
  • Gain a clear understanding of nonprofit and Community Health Centers businesses and requirements.
  • Assess progress and impact of consulting training with quarterly meetings and updates.

Competencies/Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal relationship-building and communication skills including strong written verbal and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence negotiate and effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven ability to meet performance goals and manage competing priorities.
  • Knowledge of healthcare and nonprofit organizations particularly community health centers preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and standard office technology.
  • Ability to analyze interpret and communicate complex information and develop effective solutions.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish is a plus but not required.
Education/Experience
  • Bachelors Arts or Business degree
  • In-depth knowledge of current business practices and a general knowledge of healthcare organizations
  • 1 years of successful sales and/or customer service experience
  • 1 years of experience with a CRM (preferably Salesforce)
