Job Summary
Business Architect
FedTec is seeking a Business Architect who is responsible for developing maintaining and publishing the Agencys Business Architecture . This role focuses on creating current state and target state Business Architecture artifacts developing Business Architecture models and aligning Business Models to Application Models in support of Application Portfolio Management (APM) capabilities. The Business Architect serves as the bridge between business stakeholders and Enterprise Architecture translating business strategy into actionable architectural direction and ensuring alignment between mission objectives and its enterprise technology investments. The role contributes to the development of the Agency Business Architecture roadmap and supports broader Enterprise Architecture Development activities.
Location: On-Site - Woodlawn MD
Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust. Contract requirement.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop maintain and publish the Agency Business Architecture including current state and target state Business Architecture artifacts.
- Develop Business Architecture models that capture the agencys capabilities business processes value streams and organizational structures.
- Align Business Models to Application Models to support Application Portfolio Management (APM) and ensure traceability between business capabilities and enabling technology.
- Develop and maintain the Agency Business Architecture roadmap identifying transition activities required to evolve from current state to target state.
- Support the development of the Agency Target Enterprise Architecture by contributing the business architecture perspective to enterprise architecture artifacts.
- Conduct application portfolio analysis to evaluate business value capability coverage and adherence to architectural direction.
- Support Application Rationalization Plans by providing business architecture analysis and recommendations to the Chief Architect and Chief Technology Officer.
- Maintain and integrate Business Architecture data within the EAIS Repository.
- Create and maintain Business Architecture diagrams capability maps value stream maps and reports.
- Engage with business stakeholders data owners and program teams to gather information necessary to complete Business Architecture tasks.
- Present Business Architecture information capability assessments and recommendations to SSA Executives and Staff.
- Provide training and mentoring services in relation to Business Architecture practices frameworks and tools.
- Support EA Solution Reviews by providing business architecture input on proposed solutions.
- Develop technical documents executive-level briefings presentations and weekly status reports to fulfill work order objectives.
Basic Qualifications Required Education Certifications Skills and Experience
- Bachelors degree and 10 years of relevant experience in Business Architecture Enterprise Architecture or business analysis; masters degree may substitute for part of the experience.
- Demonstrated experience developing Business Architecture artifacts including capability maps value streams business process models and target state architectures.
- Strong experience with Servicenow Application Portfolio Management (APM) including business capability mapping to application portfolios.
- Experience with Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA) and TOGAF frameworks.
- Experience with Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) and BPMN tools such as Camunda.
- Experience defining as-is transition state and future state business architectures.
- Experience modeling architectures using industry-standard tools and notations.
- Experience with Enterprise Architecture Repositories and capability/portfolio management tools.
- Strong experience using Microsoft Office Suite Visio Confluence and SharePoint.
- Experience developing EA documents based on industry standards and best practices.
- Experience developing executive-level communications and presentations.
- Strong research analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Strong mentoring organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Minimum Citizenship Status Requirements: US Citizen
