Wages: Routes: competitive pay $125-$150 per day ECA: $15.00 an hour (includes non-driving trip time)

North Lawrence Community Schools is seeking dependable safety-focused School Bus Drivers to transport students to and from school on assigned daily routes and to drive students to and from extracurricular athletic and other school-sponsored activity trips. Drivers are responsible for the safe on-time and courteous transportation of student riders while maintaining the cleanliness and roadworthiness of their assigned vehicle.

• Complete a thorough pre-trip inspection before each route checking for leaks and any irregularities that affect the safe transportation of student riders.
• Complete a post-trip inspection after each route ensuring all students are off the bus and disinfect the bus after the AM and PM routes.
• Drive the specified route safely and on time following the established route sheet and schedule.
• Keep the route sheet current and report any needed route changes.
• Contact parents/guardians regarding route changes as needed.
• Perform any extra duties that may be assigned along with the specified route.

• Transport students coaches sponsors and staff to and from athletic events field trips performances and other school-sponsored extracurricular activities including evening weekend and out-of-district trips as assigned.
• Coordinate trip departure and return times with coaches sponsors and the Transportation Department and adjust to schedule changes when events run long.
• Maintain order and student safety during loading transit unloading and any wait time at the destination.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections for each trip and ensure the bus is clean and accounted for upon return.
• Accurately record mileage hours and trip documentation as required for activity-trip assignments.

• The driver is guaranteed five (5) hours per day for regular route assignments; extracurricular and activity trips are assigned and compensated in addition to the daily route.
• Maintain reliable punctual attendance and professional conduct with students families staff and the public.

• Must possess a CDL Class B with no air brake restriction including a Public (Passenger) Endorsement and a School Bus Endorsement.
• Must possess a Yellow Card or be willing to earn a Yellow Card within one (1) year.
• Must pass a background check.
• Must complete the New Hire Checklist.

• Must have a clean Motor Vehicle History.
• Must pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screen and submit to random Drug and Alcohol Screens.
• Must be able to read a map and a route sheet.
• Must be punctual and dependable.

• Experience driving a school bus with the ability to obtain a Yellow Card preferred.
