Operate a Transit or Para-Transit bus on campus city streets and state-designated highways. Safely transport university students staff faculty and members of the general public along fixed scheduled bus routes. Conduct and document required pre-operational safety and maintenance inspections. Accurately collect maintain and record statistics for daily reports. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be physically able to stoop bend and kneel as necessary to properly secure wheelchairs in compliance with ADA requirements. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and not have an air-brake restriction.

• High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)

Certifications Registrations and/or Licenses:

• Valid drivers license at the time of hire.
• Must have or obtain within 30 days of hire a Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with:
  • P (Passenger) endorsement
  • No air brake restriction
• The department willcover thecost of CDLtraining.
• Must be able to pass DOT physical.

Skills Proficiencies and/or Knowledge:

1. • Must be abletostoop bend andkneelto assist withADA wheelchair securement.
   • Must be abletolift at least50 pounds.

Transit Drivers:

• 1 year of experience driving a bus or similar vehicle.
• P (Passenger) endorsement.
• No air brake restriction.

Shuttle Drivers:

• 2 years of experience driving a bus or similar vehicle.
• P (Passenger) endorsement.
• No air brake restriction.
