Job Summary

We invite you to explore summer employment opportunities within the Buildings and Grounds facilities team. Bennington College welcomes applications for several Summer Worker positions including Grounds Helpers and Housekeepers Assistants. The College offers a competitive hourly wage and employees have use of our on-site facilities including a fitness/recreation center tennis courts and campus library. Spend your summer on our vibrant and exciting college campus!

The hourly rate of pay starts at $17.67 and after thirty (30) days of employment in any of the above summer positions the hourly rate will increase to $19.63.

Summer employment opportunities are temporary full-time starting on/around the first week of June through August 28 2026. We recognize that summer hires may have school or other commitments that require them to end their assignments earlier. Available schedules/placement for the Summer Worker positions are as follows:

  • Summer Worker/Grounds Helper - Full-time (40 hours/week) Monday through Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
  • Summer Worker/Housekeepers Assistant - Full-time (40 hours/week) Monday through Friday 6:30 am - 3:00 pm

Working in collaboration with experienced Buildings and Grounds staff Summer Workers are responsible for following established safety rules and regulations maintaining a safe and clean work environment and promoting a positive and congenial atmosphere and working relationship with students employees supervisors and other individuals with whom these positions may come in contact. These jobs require the use of proper judgment in work assignments daily effectively managing their time and being proactive and self-motivated.

Qualifications:

  • All candidates must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Grounds Helper: Knowledge of hand tools and light equipment. Ability to operate lawn mower brush cutters weed whacker and leaf blower.
  • Housekeeping Assistant: Ability to operate a vacuum buffer floor machine wet/dry vacuum washing machine and similar equipment required for housekeeping/cleaning tasks.
  • Bennington College requires successful completion and acceptable results of a background check.
