Under the general supervision of the Building/Grounds Supervisor this position provides manual labor and operates the necessary equipment to perform grounds maintenance tasks and landscaping operations on a large campus. Our mission is to create safe beautiful and welcoming outdoor spaces that inspire comfort and community.

  • Checks fence lines to make sure that fences have not been damaged to prevent consumers injuries.
  • Picks up all trash tree branches and debris on campus and outside fence line front gate entrance and also back gate entrance daily.
  • Responsible for the upkeep of cutting grass and bushes trimming trees weeding flower beds and killing weeds.
  • Weed eats around all campus buildings.
  • Maintains all lawn equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned


The position for this posting is located at Pee Dee Regional Center an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID) of BHDD-OIDD located in Florence SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Trades experience that is directly related to the area of employment.Must have a valid Drivers License.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of how to carry out grounds keeping tasks. Ability to bend stoop reach twist climb balance kneel push pull grasp and physically manipulate objects of varying size shape weight and material. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Knowledge of safety practices relevant to the area of employment. Knowledge of personnel practices in state government. Skills in the use of tools and equipment. Ability to keep accurate written records. Ability to independently perform grounds keeping tasks and/or performs planning as identified.

Immunization:If this position requires the applicant to work directly with consumers of The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities tuberculosis (TB) skin or blood testing must be completed prior to beginning employment. All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles mumps rubella pertussis Varicella and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.

State Disaster Plan:In accordance with the States Disaster Plan which includes hazardous weather employees of The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
