Wakefield Public Schools seeks an exceptional Building Base Substitute Teacher who is highly qualified and knowledgeable to join our community of teachers learners and leaders. This is an exciting opportunity for teachers who desire to serve where their efforts matter. The Building Base Substitute Teacher will perform the in-person instructional practices outlined by the teacher who is absent. The candidate should have strength in managing and leading classroom schedules and activities that define the school day.
*Building Base Substitute Teachers are assigned to a single school to cover teacher absences. Assignments at the school may be subject to change daily.**
Reports to:Principal
Responsibilities:
Effectively manage a classroom of students by keeping them on task and engaged
Assumes all duties and responsibilities of the absent teacher
Follow lesson plans left by the classroom teacher
Supervise and ensure safety of students during classroom hours
Maintain a positive learning environment
Leave feedback and notes for the regular classroom teacher
Assist with non-classroom duties when assigned
Qualifications - Required:
Education:Minimum of an undergraduate college/university degree.
Successfully complete a screening interview with the School Principal or Human Resources Department.
Pass a CORI/SORI criminal background check.
Qualifications - Preferred:
Massachusetts Teaching License in assigned content and grade level including SEI Endorsement if applicable.
Experience in a school or community setting working with children
Candidates who speak another language bring added value to the classroom school and district culture and diversity.
Knowledge in utilizing technological tools such as iPads Chromebooks as well as the Google Classroom platform is preferred
