Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Building Engineer to oversee and manage the mechanical electrical HVAC and general building systems in our West Hollywood facility. The ideal candidate will proactively ensure that the building is safe comfortable efficient and address issues as they arise and implement preventive maintenance programs. This role is critical in supporting and ensuring seamless daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate maintain inspect and repair HVAC refrigeration chilled/hot water boiler air distribution and ventilation systems.
- Monitor and optimize building automation and control systems for peak performance and energy efficiency.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures and building system issues promptly.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on all major systems and equipment maintaining accurate records.
- Respond to service requests and emergencies (e.g. HVAC failure leaks or power issues)
- Inspect and maintain lighting plumbing power distribution rooftop equipment and other building infrastructure.
- Coordinate and oversee contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance repairs or upgrades.
- Work with general contractors and vendors on large-scale repair and maintenance projects to ensure project scope milestones and expenses meet expectations.
- Be available to address after-hours emergency matters.
- Secure vendor estimates/bids schedule work and track progress of all maintenance and repair items.
- Maintain an organized inventory of parts tools and supplies.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes regulations safety and environmental standards.
- Recommend and implement improvements for energy efficiency sustainability and operational excellence.
Qualifications & Skills
- 35 years of experience in building service engineering facilities maintenance or a related trade (commercial building experience preferred).
- Solid technical knowledge of HVAC electrical mechanical and plumbing systems.
- Experience with building automation systems and related control systems.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing building mechanical/electrical issues.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings and schematics.
- Working knowledge of local building codes safety and environmental regulations.
- Strong problem-solving abilities attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with staff and vendors.
- Valid California drivers license required.
- Preferred: trade certifications such as HVAC license EPA 608 or refrigeration certification.
- Preferred: experience in energy management sustainability or large commercial facility operations.
Compensation
$75000 to $95000 Salary
