About the Role:
The Budget Analyst assists with the development monitoring and analysis of the Tribes operating capital and discretionary budgets. Responsibilities include budget planning forecasting financial reporting variance analysis and ensuring compliance with applicable policies regulations and funding requirements. This position works closely with department leaders to support strategic decision-making and effective resource allocation. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the development administration and monitoring of operating capital and discretionary budgets.
- Review budget requests prepare reports forecasts and budget presentations.
- Monitor expenditures and revenues analyze budget variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare monthly quarterly and annual financial reports for management.
- Support financial forecasting long-range planning and strategic decision-making.
- Analyze financial data and evaluate the impact of proposed programs projects and policy changes.
- Assist with performance measurement budget tracking and reporting initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with Tribal policies grant requirements and funding restrictions.
- Maintain budget records and support audits internal controls and risk management efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelors Degree in Finance Accounting Business or related field required.
- Two (2) years of experience in budgeting financial analysis accounting governmental finance or related field required.
- Experience preparing budgets forecasts and financial reports preferred.
- Previous experience with new software implementation preferred.
- Experience with ERP and budgeting systems preferred.
- Tribal Government municipal county state government non-profit or public sector finance experience preferred.
- Ability to work odd and irregular hours as needed.
- Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
- Ability to travel and participate in required training leadership development and other events.
- Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully.
- Knowledge of budgeting financial management forecasting and variance analysis.
- Understanding of grant-funded budgets and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Ability to improve processes adapt to changing priorities and overcome challenges.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse individuals.
- Demonstrates professionalism integrity and the ability to serve as a positive representative of the organization and Tribal culture.
