Varsity Baseball Head Coach

Stipend$4936.95

Position Summary

The Varsity Baseball Head Coach is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the high school varsity baseball program. The Head Coach is expected to develop student-athletes academically athletically and personally while promoting sportsmanship teamwork discipline and character. The coach serves as a positive role model and ensures that the program operates in compliance with district policies state athletic association regulations and league rules.

Athletic Director and Building Principal

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Program Leadership
  • Plan organize and supervise all aspects of the varsity baseball program.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive program philosophy that aligns with the mission and goals of the school district.

  • Foster a culture of integrity accountability respect and sportsmanship.

  • Coordinate and collaborate with middle school and junior varsity coaches to promote continuity throughout the baseball program.

Coaching Responsibilities
  • Plan and conduct organized safe and effective practices.

  • Teach the fundamental and advanced skills of baseball.

  • Develop game strategies and make sound coaching decisions during contests.

  • Evaluate player performance and determine team selections playing time and positions based on established criteria.

  • Promote academic success and monitor student-athlete eligibility.

Student Development
  • Serve as a positive mentor and role model for student-athletes.

  • Encourage leadership responsibility teamwork and good sportsmanship.

  • Promote respect for teammates opponents officials and spectators.

  • Support the social and emotional well-being of student-athletes.

Compliance and Safety
  • Ensure compliance with all school district policies and procedures.

  • Adhere to all applicable state athletic association league and conference rules.

  • Maintain current certifications as required by the district (e.g. CPR First Aid Concussion Training Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training).

  • Supervise student-athletes at all practices contests team travel and school-sponsored activities.

  • Inspect facilities and equipment regularly to ensure a safe environment.

Communication
  • Maintain open and professional communication with athletes parents administration and athletic department personnel.

  • Attend coaches meetings athletic department meetings and required professional development.

  • Communicate practice schedules game schedules expectations and program information in a timely manner.

Administrative Responsibilities
  • Assist with scheduling contests as requested by the Athletic Director.

  • Maintain accurate team rosters inventory equipment records and required paperwork.

  • Submit required reports eligibility documentation and end-of-season summaries.

  • Assist with budget planning and ensure proper care storage and accountability of equipment and uniforms.

  • Participate in fundraising activities in accordance with district policies.

Qualifications
  • Previous successful baseball coaching experience is preferred.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of baseball fundamentals strategy skill development and conditioning.

  • Strong leadership communication organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to establish positive relationships with students parents staff and community members.

  • Ability to supervise student-athletes in a safe and appropriate manner.

  • Must satisfy all district employment requirements including required background clearances.

Working Conditions
  • Requires evening weekend holiday and vacation period commitments during the athletic season.

  • Requires travel to away contests and athletic events.

  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand walk run throw demonstrate athletic skills and supervise practices and contests for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift and move athletic equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated annually by the Athletic Director in accordance with district procedures and established coaching expectations.

Terms of Employment
  • Seasonal position.

  • Compensation in accordance with the Board-approved extracurricular salary schedule.

  • Continued employment is contingent upon satisfactory performance adherence to district policies and annual Board approval.
