Job Summary
POSITION SUMMARY: The Boxing Instructor is responsible for leading safe engaging and inclusive boxing classes for both youth and adult participants. This role supports the YMCAs mission by fostering a positive environment where individuals can build confidence improve physical fitness and develop discipline through structured boxing FUNCTIONS:Plan and lead structured boxing classes for youth and adult participants of varying skill levelsTeach proper boxing techniques including stance footwork punches and defensive skillsModify instruction to meet diverse participant needs and abilitiesEnsure all classes are safe inclusive and aligned with YMCA valuesMaintain a safe workout environment by enforcing proper use of equipmentMonitor participants for signs of injury or overexertionSupport recruitment and retention of participants through high-quality instructionCollaborate with staff on program improvements and community outreach effortsOther duties as assigned by :Education: High School diploma :Experience in boxing martial arts or related fitness instructionAbility to work with both youth and adult populationsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsExperience teaching youth programsCertification(s) & Requirements:CPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 30 days of fitness certification or boxing-specific certificationMust be 18 years of Skills and Knowledge: Ability to work effectively work with people of different backgrounds abilities opinions and and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect. All employees are required to follow the child abuse and neglectreporting process: completion of Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect reporting form calling children protective services (696-Kids) and notifying your immediate supervisorbranch executive risk management and human resources department (s). PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Ability to lift/move equipment as neededCapability to lead active classes for extended periodsWORK ENVIRONMENTThe noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to noisy.
