Volt is immediately hiring an Accounting Specialist (Contractor) for a leading aerospace and defense manufacturer in San Diego CA (Hybrid).

As an Accounting Specialist you will:

Job Description

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries related to revenue adjustments accruals reclasses and corrections.
• Perform account reconciliations for revenue accounts AR subledger clearing accounts and unapplied cash balances.
• Research variances and ensure reconciling items are investigated and resolved in a timely manner.
• Create review and process invoices credit memo requests and other accounting adjustments within SAP or a comparable ERP system.
• Support month-end close activities by compiling financial data preparing schedules and ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and within deadlines.
• Assist in maintaining internal controls and ensuring compliance with SOX and company accounting policies.
• Support process improvement initiatives to streamline accounting workflows and improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Participate in cross-functional projects system enhancements and process optimization efforts.
• Assist with reporting requests account analysis and ad hoc accounting projects as needed.
• Collaborate closely with Accounting Finance and cross-functional business partners to support operational objectives.

This is a full-time contract through December 31 2026. 5 days a week. 8 hours per day.

The Ideal candidate will have:

• Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 2-4 years of experience in General Accounting Accounts Receivable and/or Accounts Payable within a corporate or contractor environment.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or other large ERP systems; SAP experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles including debits credits accruals journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Experience supporting month-end close activities.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and accountability.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Preferred Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience supporting accounting operations within aerospace defense manufacturing or other highly regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of SOX compliance requirements and internal controls.
  • Experience with process improvement initiatives and system implementations.
  • Familiarity with revenue accounting and accounts receivable processes.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced corporate accounting environment.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 1st Shift

Pay Rate:$25.00 - $29.00 per hour

*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors including the candidates education work experience work location specific job duties certifications etc.
