Job Summary
The Bookkeeper provides financial administrative and clerical support to ensure the efficient operation of the school office. Responsibilities include managing financial transactions and records processing deposits invoices purchase orders and budget documents maintaining accurate financial reports and ensuring compliance with district policies and applicable regulations. The Bookkeeper also supports the principal communicates with staff families and district offices and helps maintain smooth daily school operations while handling confidential information with professionalism and accuracy.

Place of Work
- The normal place of work is on the premises used by Rock Hill Schools. Rock Hill Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.
Essential Functions
- Maintains accurate financial records receipts deposits purchase orders invoices and budget documentation in accordance with district policies and procedures.
- Compiles and prepares financial administrative and other required reports to support school and district operations.
- Maintains accurate files and records ensuring compliance with district state and federal requirements.
- Processes and distributes documents correspondence and other materials to appropriate staff families and district departments.
- Responds to inquiries from staff parents vendors and community members by providing accurate information and directing requests as appropriate.
- Assists the principal and school staff with administrative clerical and financial functions to support daily school operations.
- Maintains confidentiality of student employee and financial information in accordance with district policies and applicable laws.
- Participates in meetings workshops and training sessions to remain current on district procedures and financial requirements.
- Performs general office duties including answering phones processing mail and providing clerical support as needed.
- Serves as a liaison between the school district departments families and vendors to facilitate effective communication and operations.
- Prepares written correspondence reports and other documentation to support school business operations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills Abilities
- Knowledge of bookkeeping principles financial recordkeeping and basic accounting practices.
- Knowledge of school office procedures business operations and district policies and regulations.
- Knowledge of applicable federal state and district requirements related to financial records student information confidentiality and retention records.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Outlook) and school financial and student information systems.
- Skill in maintaining accurate financial student and administrative records with a high level of attention to detail.
- Skill in organizing prioritizing and managing multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
- Skill in preparing reports correspondence and other business documents accurately and professionally.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with students parents staff vendors and the public.
- Ability to analyze information reconcile discrepancies and solve routine financial and administrative problems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service while working in a fast-paced school environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a school team.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and perform a variety of administrative financial and clerical duties.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in business accounting finance or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years of bookkeeping accounting administrative or school office experience preferred.
- Experience with financial recordkeeping budgeting purchasing accounts payable/receivable and cash handling required.
- Experience using computerized financial management systems Student Information Systems (SIS) and Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel Word and Outlook preferred.
- Experience working in a public school or educational setting preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education training and experience that provide the required knowledge skills and abilities may be considered.
- Regular interaction with staff administrators and the public in a busy office setting
Special Requirements
- Must have and maintain a valid Drivers License or ability to provide own transportation
- Must be able to provide negative TB test results prior to employment
Physical Requirements/Work Conditions
- Work is typically performed in a standard office or school environment.
- May requires prolonged periods of sitting standing and walking.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing filing and operating office equipment.
- Must be able to lift carry or move materials and supplies up to 25 pounds.
- Visual acuity required for reading documents data entry and computer work.
- Hearing and speaking abilities are sufficient for clear communication in person virtually and over the phone.
- May require occasional bending reaching or stooping to retrieve or file materials.
- Regular interaction with staff administrators and the public in a busy office setting.
- May be required to travel between district sites or attend meetings as needed.
