Job Summary

SUMMARY

Job SummaryThe Biomedical Equipment and Service Technician Instructor is responsible for instruction of medical equipment theory and maintenance use of ancillary testing equipment and application of electronic theory and troubleshooting safety and career-related math. The instructor will also reinforce job research and public speaking skills as related to the field.

This is a 214/7 full-time tenure-track position for the BMST program beginning Fall Quarter 2026 (September 21 2026)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & OTHER DUTIES

Essential Functions

  • Teaches theory of numerous medical equipment types and function.
  • Instructs of safe and proper use of tools chemicals supplies soldering and ancillary test equipment. Provides instruction guidance and applied electronics theory.
  • Provides instruction of hospital networking and healthcare IT essentials.
  • Lecture and demonstrates various medical imaging modalities.
  • Teaches terminology as related to the medical field of biomed.
  • Develops curriculum and delivery modes plans and reviews program budget.
  • Administers and or preforms program administration duties.
  • Develop and/or maintain industry-based program accreditation and ensure students are prepared for and have the opportunity to obtain relevant industry credentials and certifications.
  • Deliver classroom management to maintain suitable learning environment by responding appropriately to student conduct/problems and provide assistance in solving them in accordance with college procedures.
  • Provide budget management which includes requisition and maintenance control of and safeguard inventories of equipment and supplies assigned to the program. Serves as primary contact with industry partners.
Non-Essential/Other Functions
  • Support and repair of college and program equipment in related areas when feasible.
  • Repair of non-Bates equipment when feasible.
  • Actively contribute to and participate in college-wide activities in support of regional accreditation and state and federal requirements.
  • Support College student achievement practices to ensure student retention completionand progression.
  • Participate actively and collaboratively with College Student Services and program advisory committees to support access to employment opportunities for students and maintain student job placement records.
  • Accountable for keeping personal development up-to-date; adding to skills and knowledge through courses that may be available through the Bates Technical College courses professional development committees etc.
  • Participate actively and collaboratively on committees for college as needed including but not limited to staff recruitment college councils etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Biomedical Technician or related field.
  • Teaching experience
Allowable Substitution
If necessary alternative combinations of education and experience may be evaluated by Human Resources for comparability.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Biomedical engineering or related field.
  • College level teaching experience
