The Billing Analyst will ensure the timely and accurate production and distribution of customer bills in accordance with customer contracts policies and procedures. They will address various billing data requests from internal and external customers and review accounts payable invoices related to purchased power wheeling and related services. The Billing Analyst will assist with the development and maintenance of the SAP CCS and BI Billing Systems. He/she will also have responsibility for troubleshooting problems that arise and work with internal/external partners and technical staff to resolve such issues.
The Billing Analyst will need strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel Word etc) with working knowledge of SAP highly preferred. They will use strong mathematical and analytical skills to analyze billing data and invoices for accuracy and use sound judgment to independently resolve issues regarding data inconsistencies. The Billing Analyst will also need strong communication skills for interactions inside and outside of the organization working with internal stakeholders external customers and partners. Additional responsibilities and skills include teamwork data analysis/data management problem solving and time management.

Responsibilities
Good understanding of related processes and procedures ensuring the timely and accurate invoicing of customers and providing payment to vendors in accordance with negotiated contracts policies and procedures.
Analyze data to prepare regularly scheduled and specialized reports analyses and statements for management review; review and analyze statistical reports for individual customer groupings and provide support with data analysis and report preparation.
Provide testing support of transactions during system patches.
Review data interfaced from various sources (S&S EE&ED IOUs etc.) and used in the creation of customer invoices to check for accuracy and identify issues. Review Data from business Intelligence reports for accuracy of reporting of customers billed an invoiced
Perform data analysis to produce semi-complex customer invoices as assigned. Review and distribute finalized invoices to customers.
Analyze power generation data for individual customer group billing for accuracy and use in monthly year-end reporting to the Department on Energy (DOE).
Provide the Billing Manager with a record of issues identified during eachindividual billing cycle
Review NYPAs Wheeling bills from other utilities for payment.
Function as a liaison between the Billing department and other NYPA departments or external vendors and provide advice on billing matters. Address and resolve any outstanding billing issues.
Serve as a backup to the Senior Billing Analyst in updating transported price changes analyzing and loading interface files into ERP billing system and performing corrections to errors in the Error Management System.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Education Experience and Certifications
Bachelors degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 2 years experience preferred.
Associates degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 4 years experience preferred.
High school diploma in a relevant field with a minimum of 6 years experience preferred.
Working knowledge of computerized billing systems is preferred.
Experience working in an ERP system is preferred.
Physical Requirements
Limited travel (about 10%) required primarily to our generating facilities.
