These collaborations speed the execution of demonstration projects effect expansion of successful pilot programs and support rapid implementation to meet the public health needs of individuals families and communities across New York Culture:We embrace a culture of learning collaboration innovation and well-being where open communication drives our The Role: The Healthy Eating Unit seeks an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to assist with implementing theGet the Good Stuffprogram including program promotion recruitment enrollment and survey administration. This position will primarily occur at supermarkets across NYC with periodic visits to the NYC Health Department office in Long Island City Queens for data entry and other projects as needed. This is a temporary part-time role 21 hours over 3 days the Program: The Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention (BCDP) strives to reduce the burden of chronic diseases including heart disease obesity and cancer among New Yorkers. The Outreach Associate position sits in the Healthy Eating Unit which aims to promote healthy eating by shaping the environment and building on New Yorkers resources knowledge and skills. This position supports the Get the Good Stuff Program which aims to make fruits and vegetables more affordable for New Yorkers participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) by providing a dollar-for-dollar match on SNAP purchases of eligible fruits vegetables and beans at select independent grocery stores. For every dollar that participants spend using SNAP/EBT on eligible fruits vegetables and beans they get a matching dollar (up to $10.00 per day) that can be used for their next purchase of eligible : Conduct site visits at supermarkets across diverse communities and populations in the program at participating supermarkets including explaining how the program works and answering questions. Enroll eligible customers and track daily enrollment participant enrollment data into Microsoft with training supermarket staff on how to promote the participant surveys at supermarkets as stock of program materials at participating outreach events such as community health fairs to promote Get the Good with identification of potential outreach partners such as community-based organizations and SNAP enrollment : Bilingual in English and Spanish requiredProficiency in MS ExcelExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsDetail-oriented and highly organizedAble to work independently with limited need for supervisionExperience working in multicultural settings with diverse populations in NYCKnowledgeable about health inequities and community food security issuesWilling and able to travel to a variety of neighborhoods throughout NYCWilling and able to stand for long periods of timeEqual Employment Opportunity Statement: FPHNY is an equal opportunity employer and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind.
