Job Summary

Job Title: RN - Operating Room

Duration: 13 weeks (per call order; confirm at offer)

Start Date: ASAP upon completion of credentialing/onboarding

Shift Schedule: Day shift: Monday Friday 7:00a 3:30p. Intermittent on-call (6 8 times/month) on evenings nights weekends and holidays as needed.

How many shifts needed per month: Approx. 20 22 weekday shifts plus 6 8 on-call instances/month

Credentialing / Onboarding time: 6 weeks to 8 weeks

License: Any state license works (current active unrestricted)

Certifications: Current BLS (AHA or Red Cross) ACLS

Education: BSN ADN or Nursing Diploma from an accredited program; passed NCLEX

Experience needed: 2 3 years of recent acute care hospital Operating Room experience

Special Skills needed: Must be fully competent in BOTH scrub and circulate roles across a range of surgical cases. Strong knowledge of aseptic technique surgical instrumentation counts and intraoperative patient safety standards. Able to anticipate surgeon needs and adapt quickly across multiple surgical specialties in a research hospital OR.

Responsibilities: Provide perioperative nursing care in the NIH Clinical Center Operating Room rotating between scrub and circulating roles as assigned. Prepare the OR suite maintain the sterile field perform counts and document intraoperative care in accordance with hospital and Joint Commission standards. Participate in intermittent on-call coverage (6 8 times per month) for evenings nights weekends and holidays.
