Assist in developing appropriate responses from designated students requiring behavior intervention by implementing specific plans on an individual small group or classroom basis as appropriate to ensure the safety and dignity of students and staff.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Education Development (GED) testing program.
Minimum of four (4) years of experience working with behaviorally complex children.
OR
An earned associate degree or 60-degree credits from an accredited institution.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with behaviorally complex children.
Must have the physical stamina and ability to work with behaviorally complex students and implement behavior management strategies as needed.
Computer skills as required for the position.
Training
Attend training in Positive Behavioral Supports and De-escalation strategies within six (6) months of employment.
Attend training in Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavioral Intervention Plans within six (6) months of employment.
Behavior Technicians who require Professional Crisis Management (PCM) training based on a students IEP will be trained in collaboration with the Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Department.
