Description of Work

The Psychology Department provides comprehensive behavior analysis and support and psychological services to residents of J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center. These services include but are not limited to behavioral assessment and treatment staff training and management in the provision of behavior support services participation with the Interdisciplinary Team consultation with other Center staff and psychological testing and evaluation. The Psychology Department also provides clinical and management consultant services to outside individuals groups and agencies serving people with intellectual disorders and related developmental disabilities including autism spectrum disorder.

While under the direction of clinical supervision the behavioral programming specialist assists in the provision of a range of assessment and treatment services to approximately 25 residents with significant intellectual disorders and related developmental disabilities. Services include assisting to provide behavior assessments; participating in interdisciplinary team processes; assisting a licensed psychologist or behavior analyst in the planning and evaluating treatment programs; assisting in the tracking and quality assurance of the treatment programs; and helping to provide staff training.

The Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs )/Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • Knowledge and basic skills in assessment of intellectual disorders and related developmental disabilities in terms of behavioral observations and evaluation of treatment/behavior support plans.
  • Knowledge and basic skills in assessment and treatment of learning and behavior disorders.
  • Knowledge in the principles underlying the development of adaptive behavior and basic skills in the application of this knowledge to the learning problems of persons with significant learning and behavior disorders.
  • Ability to conduct training to train staff on treatment/behavior support plans.
  • Knowledge of general ethical clinical administrative and social policy issues in intellectual disorders and related developmental disabilities and ability to relate these issues to concepts and practices at the Center.

Physical Requirements:


Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.

Shift Hours: 1st Shift (typically 8:00am-5:00pm) Monday Friday with some night and weekend work
