Description

The Inova Keller Center is looking for a dedicated Behavioral Health Therapist II to join the team! Our comprehensive mental health and substance use disorder treatment programs and an innovative special education school support families throughout Northern Virginia. This therapist will serve in a flexible role handling patient assessments PHP/IOP and working with The Keller School. This role will be full-time day shift from Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m with one day per week at 10:30 - 7:00 Keller Center is in Fairfax VA.

Behavioral Health Therapist II Job Responsibilities:

  • Assesses and diagnoses mental health and/or substance use disorders through a bio/psycho/social department-specific evidenced based assessment identifying patient and family goals and needs. Integrates assessment using information related to cultural clinical ethnic age and other factors into the plan of care.
  • Provides a range of therapeutic interventions psycho-educational programming and behavioral interventions (when indicated) to assist the patient/family in achieving the goals and objectives of the individualized service plan.
  • Provides care management to ensure that the patient and family receive and are subsequently referred to appropriate healthcare and community resources to optimize treatment/intervention outcomes. When indicated by role participates in inpatient and community psychoeducational programs facilitates support groups for specified disease processes related to mental health medical diagnosis and chronic or life-limited illnesses while assisting with community outreach as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education:Masters Degree Ph.D. PsyD EdD in Mental Health Social Work Counseling Substance Use Disorders or Behavioral Health related field.
  • Experience: Two years of experience in mental health/substance use disorder treatment psychoeducational programming including targeted evidence-based interventions (crisis intervention trauma and integrative therapies).
  • Certification:Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association within 3 months of hire. Crisis Prevention Institute within 6 months of hire.
  • Licensure: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist LMFT) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP) or Licensed Substance Abuse Professional (LSATP).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with adolescent patients (ages 12) is strongly preferred
  • Experience with patients with serious mental illnesses
