Behavioral Health Technician
Job Summary
Cenikor Foundation is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Behavioral Health Technician to provide direct support and care to individuals receiving treatment for substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. The Behavioral Health Technician plays a vital role in maintaining a safe therapeutic and structured environment while supporting clients throughout their recovery journey.
- Monitor and supervise clients to ensure their safety well-being and compliance with program guidelines.
- Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment and recovery plans under the direction of clinical staff.
- Facilitate and support daily therapeutic educational and recreational activities.
- Conduct routine client observations and document behavioral changes incidents and progress accurately and promptly.
- Assist with client admissions orientation discharges and transitions within the treatment program.
- Administer drug and alcohol screenings in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Transport clients to appointments community activities and other approved destinations as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health record systems.
- Respond appropriately to crisis situations and behavioral emergencies following established protocols.
- Collaborate with counselors nurses and other interdisciplinary team members to support client care and treatment goals.
- Promote a positive recovery-oriented environment that encourages personal growth and accountability.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Psychology Social Work Human Services Counseling or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience working in behavioral health mental health substance abuse treatment or a related healthcare setting preferred.
- Experience working with individuals in recovery is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries with clients.
- Knowledge of behavioral health substance use disorders and recovery principles.
- Ability to effectively manage crisis situations and de-escalate challenging behaviors.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems.
- Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
- CPR and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain upon hire.
- Additional behavioral health or substance abuse certifications may be required based on state regulations.
- Ability to stand walk bend and lift up to 50 pounds as necessary.
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings weekends holidays and overnight shifts as needed.
