  • JOB GOAL:
    The Behavior Specialist is responsible for providing behavior coaching/mentoring for students and all teachers.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Valid State of Arizona Special Education Teaching Certificate - Required
    2. Experience and Strong Background in Behavior Management
    3. Masters Degree preferred
    4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    5. Effective organizational planning skills
    6. Five (5) years of successful teaching
    7. BCBA certification preferred
    8. Must pass a background clearance
    9. Must obtain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card

    TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 218 Days; 11 Months
    COMPENSATION: Per QCUSD salary schedule for applicable position
    BENEFITS: As per QCUSD District policy
    REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education
    HOURS: 40 hours per week- Monday-Friday 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
    CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Responsibilities shall include but not be limited to the following:

    1. Support QCUSD vision mission and goals.
    2. Plan and implement a program of behavior supports that meets individual student needs.
    3. Use effective behavior techniques and materials to implement individual and classroom behavior plans.
    4. Maintain and update IEPs for special education students using a computer-based system.
    5. Monitor and assess student behavior progress in order to provide feedback and data on a regular basis to students teachers and parents.
    6. Diagnose instruct and evaluate specific student needs and seeks the assistance of district specialists as required.
    7. Communicate behavior goals and/or objectives to students in a well-planned organized manner using clear and precise language.
    8. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
    9. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing the development of proper student behavior.
    10. Support and facilitate behavior training for all school campuses.
    11. Promote and follow the adopted school district philosophy policies regulations and administrative procedures.
    12. Participate and lead professional development and present to staff and teacher principles of behavior that will improve student behavior outcomes.
    13. Coach and Mentor special education teachers on Special Education regulations and support new staff with all paperwork associated with Special Education.
    14. Participate in district and school-level committees task forces and initiatives.
    15. Perform other job-related duties as assigned to advance district priorities.
