Position Title Behavior Coordinator Reports To Building Principal Employment Status Certified Position / Exempt Primary Purpose The Behavior Coordinator supports the schools behavioral attendance and student support systems by assisting with student interventions behavior management and school climate initiatives. This position works under the direct supervision of the principal and collaborates with teachers counselors families and support staff to promote positive student behavior and a safe orderly learning environment. The Behavior Coordinator is not an administrative position and does not serve as a supervisor or evaluator of certified or classified staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Student Behavior Support Assist in implementing school-wide behavior expectations and intervention systems. Respond to student behavior concerns and discipline referrals as assigned by the principal. Meet with students regarding behavioral concerns and problem-solving strategies. Assist with de-escalation and conflict resolution efforts. Support restorative practices PBIS MTSS attendance interventions and other student support initiatives. Coordinate and supervise in-school intervention programs detention or similar student support settings as assigned. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student behavior and interventions. Collaboration and Communication Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student behavior concerns and interventions. Collaborate with teachers counselors FRYSC staff special education staff and administration to support student success. Participate in student support meetings attendance meetings and intervention planning sessions as requested. Assist with developing behavior support plans and student intervention strategies. School Climate and Safety Help promote a positive respectful and orderly school environment.
Assist administration with investigations of student misconduct as assigned. Support school safety procedures and crisis response efforts when needed. Monitor common student areas as assigned. Additional Responsibilities Perform other duties related to student behavior support and school climate as assigned by the principal. Qualifications Valid Kentucky teaching certificate. Minimum of three (3) years successful educational experience preferred. Experience working with student behavior interventions preferred. Strong communication organization and interpersonal skills. Ability to build positive relationships with students families and staff. Terms of Employment Salary and work calendar established by the Board of Education. Work schedule and duties determined by the principal and superintendent. Evaluation Performance of this position will be evaluated by the building principal in accordance with district procedures applicable to non-administrative certified personnel.
