Position: The Battery Lab Technician plays a critical hands-on role in Coreshells cell development program. You will be responsible for the day-to-day fabrication of developmental electrodes and cells as well as executing electrochemical testing programs that generate the data our scientists need to advance next-generation battery chemistries. This is a highly collaborative lab-intensive role suited for a technically skilled individual who takes pride in precision and consistency.
Core Responsibilities:
- Fabricate developmental electrodes: prepare slurries coat electrodes using drawdown and slot-die coaters calender to target density and cut weigh and inspect electrodes to meet dimensional and mass-loading specifications.
- Assemble coin cells pouch cells and small-format cylindrical cells in dry-room and glovebox environments including safe preparation and handling of liquid electrolytes.
- Set up run and monitor electrochemical test programs on battery cyclers.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and environments and manage consumable inventory.
- Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and records; follow all chemical hygiene PPE and safety protocols and keep lab spaces clean and organized
Required Experience:
- 1-3 years of hands-on experience in a battery electrochemistry or materials laboratory (internship experience considered).
- Demonstrated proficiency in electrode coating calendering and cell assembly (coin cell pouch cell or cylindrical).
- Familiarity with battery cyclers (Arbin Maccor BioLogic or similar) and basic test setup.
- Comfortable working in dry-room and glovebox environments with air-sensitive materials.
- Strong attention to detail organizational skills and commitment to data integrity.
- Ability to follow detailed written procedures and contribute to procedure development.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety practices including chemical handling PPE requirements and emergency procedures.
Required Qualifications: A Bachelors degree in Chemistry Materials Science Chemical Engineering or a closely related field is preferred. Candidates with an Associates degree or equivalent technical training combined with directly relevant laboratory experience will also be considered.
Additional: This role requires sustained work in a laboratory environment involving chemicals solvents and battery materials. Proper PPE and safety procedures must be followed at all times. Some weekend or extended-hours work may be required to support ongoing test programs.
