Coreshells metallurgical Silicon anode technology delivers high capacity fast-charging and superior safety. Our low-cost Silicon-dominant batteries have higher energy density superior intrinsic thermal safety and significantly lower cost/kWh compared to current LIBs. Coreshells Si anode material is lower than the cost of graphite and utilizes the largest abundant critical mineral supply in the US and Europe. We strive to transform the global energy and transportation market by enabling cost effective and secure domestic battery supply.
Position: The Battery Materials Technician is responsible for the screening characterization and quality control of raw materials that feed Coreshells electrode and cell development programs. You will operate a suite of analytical instruments to generate materials data that directly informs purchasing decisions supplier qualification and formulation development. This is a detail-oriented measurement-intensive role for someone who enjoys generating high-quality analytical data and keeping materials programs running smoothly.
Core Responsibilities:
Perform incoming QC characterization on raw materials and make pass/fail determinations against acceptance criteria.
Operate analytical instruments for materials characterization including particle size analysis BET surface area XRD SEM/EDS thermal analysis (TGA/DSC) slurry rheology and conductivity measurements.
Perform wet chemistry sample prep and analysis (e.g. titration)
Maintain the materials inventory database and support supplier qualification by generating comparative characterization datasets across vendor samples.
Generate clear characterization reports and summary tables and escalate anomalous results or instrument performance issues.
Perform routine instrument maintenance calibration and troubleshooting; maintain calibration logs standard reference trackers and SOP documentation and coordinate service calls as needed.
Follow all chemical hygiene PPE and safety protocols; manage consumables inventory and keep characterization lab spaces clean and organized.
Required experience:
1-3 years of hands-on experience operating analytical instruments in a materials chemistry or battery laboratory (internship experience considered).
Proficiency with materials characterization techniques: particle size analysis BET XRD SEM/EDS TGA/DSC or rheometry.
Experience with materials sample preparation techniques such as milling drying pressing and cross-sectioning.
High attention to detail methodical approach to measurement and commitment to data quality.
Ability to read and implement SOPs and to contribute to SOP writing and updates.
Knowledge of laboratory safety practices including chemical handling PPE requirements and emergency procedures.
Required Qualifications: A Bachelors degree in Chemistry Materials Science Chemical Engineering or a closely related field is preferred. Candidates with an Associates degree or equivalent technical training combined with directly relevant laboratory experience will also be considered.
