POSITION TITLE: Bartender
EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
POSITION REPORTS TO: General Manager
DEPARTMENT: Dining
SHIFT: Open Availability Required (Monday-Sunday including days evenings weekends holidays and peak business periods)
The Bartender is responsible for creating exceptional guest experiences by delivering friendly efficient and knowledgeable service in a fast-paced environment. This position prepares and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages takes food and beverage orders processes transactions and maintains a clean and organized bar area. The Bartender serves as an ambassador of hospitality ensuring every guest receives outstanding service while adhering to all company safety and alcohol service standards.
- Exceed First Class Service standards and behaviors with every guest business partner and team member.
- Greet guests promptly and create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere.
- Take food and beverage orders answer menu questions and make recommendations based on guest preferences.
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and company standards.
- Identify opportunities for additional sales through suggestive selling and exceptional guest service.
- Accurately process orders and payments through the POS system.
- Respond professionally and effectively to guest concerns and service issues.
- Monitor alcohol consumption and follow all responsible alcohol service procedures to prevent intoxication.
- Verify age requirements and comply with all alcohol service laws and regulations.
- Maintain a clean sanitary organized and fully stocked bar area at all times.
- Inventory beverages garnishes and operating supplies and communicate replenishment needs to management.
- Follow all health safety food handling and sanitation guidelines.
- Complete opening ongoing and closing side work responsibilities.
- Build guest loyalty through exceptional hospitality and personalized service.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment free of safety hazards including sweeping mopping and cleaning work areas.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies as well as local state and federal regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of bartending experience required.
- Previous food and beverage or hospitality experience preferred.
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures and basic math skills required to process transactions and make change accurately.
- Strong communication interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment when dealing with guests and team members.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and unexpected situations.
- Proficiency in reading writing and basic mathematics.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule with open availability Monday through Sunday including mornings evenings weekends holidays and peak business periods.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to frequently bend reach stoop and lift items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work in an environment with varying temperatures.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions associated with beverage preparation and service.
- Ability to safely operate bar equipment and handle glassware.
- Ability to move throughout the restaurant and bar area for the duration of the shift.
