Position HighlightsThe Bartender will be part of the Catering Department and will greet guests answer questions regarding alcohol recommend menu items and prepare and serve beverages to our guests. It is the responsibility of the Bartenders to create drinks to order utilize proper equipment and ingredients and handle basic cleaning duties. Bartenders should be engaging have a friendly personality and should be efficient observant knowledgeable and personable.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Welcoming guests reading and listening to people to determine beverage preferences making recommendations and taking drink orders.
  • Reviewing event details prior to event start time to ensure planning and product is in place and prepared for all needs as outlined on event orders.
  • Selecting and mixing ingredients garnishing glasses and serving beverages to guests.
  • Checking identification to ensure guests are the legal age to purchase alcohol.
  • Participant in developing new cocktail recipes.
  • Taking inventory and ordering supplies to ensure bars are well stocked.
  • Adhering to all food safety and quality regulations.
  • Handling cash credit and debit card transactions ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons balancing the cash register.
  • Maintaining a clean work and dining area by removing trash cleaning tables and washing glasses utensils and equipment.
  • Ensures safe handling of food alcohol and equipment.
  • Handles customer complaints actively resolves internal problems wherever possible and follows through with necessary actions and effective communications.
  • Eye for detail and understanding of drink mixing tools and techniques.
  • Meets state minimum age to serve alcohol.
  • Basic math and computer skills.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Skilled in problem solving leadership and management.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with department managers team members and guests.
  • Knowledge of basic math and computer skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift/move/transport up to 50 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Must have a valid drivers license and ability to drive according tothe University Fleet Safety Policy.
  • Must be able to work nights weekends and holidays.
