Responsibilities
- Conducts accurate equipment inventories
- Trains the banquet team and oversees the enforcement of hotel standards on setting up the banquet facilities up keeping services break away event courses and cleaning.
- Projects a professional image of the hotel.
- Anticipates customers needs and responds promptly and follows through on guest complaints in effective and friendly manner.
- Meets or exceeds department guest service feedback/complaint goals.
- Knows and applies all company standards of operations shopping programs and ensures compliance.
- Knows wine lists and assists catering managers with offering assistance to customers on wine/beverage selections.
- Maintains and controls liquor costs related to the Banquet Department.
- Knows and implements local health inspection requirements and informs employees.
- Applies safety fundamentals in all areas of operation including proper use of utensils and equipment.
- Schedules cleaning and repairs of function space and equipment.
- Conductspre-function meetings with service personnel; reviews menus service details and customer requirements.
- Performs function room inspections verifying set-ups and requirements making adjustments when necessary.
- Maintains punctual regular and predictable attendance.
- Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
- Displays excellent communication skills including presentation persuasion and negotiation skills required in working with guests and coworkers and including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure.
- Respectfully takes direction from supervisor.
- Complies with all safety policies practices and procedures and reports all unsafe activities to supervisor.
- Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve hotel and company goals.
- Provides leadership to others through example and sharing knowledge and skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus two years related banquet/catering experience.
- Prior hospitality experience preferred.
- Customer Service experience preferred.
- Knowledge of health department standards of food sanitation and safety practices.
- Must be able to read write and speak English. Must be able to read and interpret simple and complex documents.
- Has advanced basic computer job skills including logging on to systems ability to communicate by email.
- The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and very rarely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and in rare occasions lift up to 100 pounds.
- The associate is regularly required to stand talk hear and walk; reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger handle or feel.
- The associate is occasionally required to climb or balance stoop kneel crouch or crawl taste or smell. The associate is occasionally required to sit.
- Basic Math skill.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability and flexibility to work various shifts including evenings weekends and holidays.
