• Must hold valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (JQ)
• Such alternatives as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

SALARY:

Per Rochester Education Association Master Agreement

REPORTS TO:Building Principal

JOB GOAL: To develop skills and knowledge of music and an appreciation of the art of musicin each student.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Teaches skills in band to middle schoolstudents utilizing a course of study adopted by the Board of Education.
2. Plans a balanced music program and organizes daily class time so that preparation rehearsal and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time.
3. Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
4. Utilizes repertoire of all types of music literature appropriate for the ages and skill levels of students.
5. Controls the storage and use of school-owned property; makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to instruments as required.
6. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly productive environment during practice group rehearsals and musical performance.
7. Evaluates each students musical growth and performance.
8. Plans rehearses and directs students in musical programs for school and community.
9. Maintains required inventory records of books musical instruments and instructional aids in the music classroom.
10. Communicates with parents and school staff on student progress.
11. Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and solving health attitude and learning problems.
12. Supervises student in out-of-classroom activities as assigned.
13. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.
14. Participates in faculty committees and sponsorship of student activities.
15. Maintains professional competence through in-service education provided by the District and/or in self-selected professional growth activities as related to music.
