Schedule: Monday to Friday available for the right A-Level technician

AutoShop Recruiting has partnered with Sherman Oaks Exclusive to hire an experienced A-Level Automotive Diagnostic Technician with exceptional diagnostic ability. This is not a position for someone who simply reads a trouble code and replaces the most likely part. We are looking for a technician who understands why a failure occurred knows how to prove the root cause and can independently develop a testing strategy before recommending a repair.

European experience is NOT required. Sherman Oaks Exclusive services a diverse mix of domestic Asian European luxury and performance vehicles. If you already have strong BMW Mercedes-Benz Porsche Land Rover Jaguar or other European experience thats a plusbut advanced diagnostic fundamentals matter more than the badge on the hood.

What Youll Diagnose

You wont be expected to guess. Youll be expected to test analyze verify and prove the failure. You should be comfortable independently handling difficult concerns such as:

• Electrical faults parasitic draws and intermittent electrical problems
• CAN/network and communication issues
• Check-engine-light concerns drivability and performance issues
• No-start hard-start conditions and misfires
• Fuel-delivery concerns sensor and actuator problems
• Complex faults involving multiple systems or problems misdiagnosed elsewhere

What Youll Do (Responsibilities)

• Perform advanced electrical mechanical and drivability diagnostics.
• Interpret scan-tool data freeze-frame information and live data.
• Use wiring diagrams and technical information to develop voltage-drop resistance current and circuit testing strategies.
• Determine root cause before recommending parts or repairs and complete advanced mechanical repairs when required.
• Perform thorough digital vehicle inspections (DVIs) and clearly document diagnostic findings.
• Communicate findings effectively with the service team and verify repairs before returning vehicles to customers.

What Were Looking For (Requirements)

Were looking for a true A-Level technician not someone who needs another technician to finish the diagnosis.

• Experience: Strong professional automotive repair experience with advanced electrical and drivability diagnostic ability.
• Skills: Ability to diagnose independently from start to finish using scan data wiring diagrams and professional diagnostic equipment.
• Tools: Professional automotive tools appropriate for an A-Level technician.
• Credentials: Valid drivers license and an insurable driving record. (ASE certifications are welcome but diagnostic ability matters more than a certificate).
• Mindset: Strong communication skills a willingness to learn new vehicle systems and a desire to work effectively as part of a small team.

When another technician says I replaced the part and the problem is still there your first question is What testing did you do before replacing it

You dont stop at the trouble code you dont shotgun parts and you dont rely solely on pattern failures. You understand that a scan tool provides informationnot the diagnosis.
